Learn About Your Country With A United States Map Too many of today's youth are missing out on a vitally important aspect of a good education: geography. One only has to tune into Jay Leno's "street interviews" to see that most Americans do not even know where their capital is located. If teachers and the education system has let you or your children down, you do not have to despair: you can educate yourself or home school your children with nothing more than a United States map. A United States map provides you with literally all of the geographical information you need to learn the geography of the united states. A good detailed map will show you rivers, mountains, oceans, lakes, dams, national parks, states, cities, counties, and towns. If you want a good starting point for your studies, you should start locally. You can not argue the value of knowing about the area closet to you. You will be a resource for not only yourself but all of your friends and family. Start with the cities and then learn the rivers and lakes near your home. What county are you in? What would be the most logical route to take? After you have familiarized yourself with your nation's capital you can turn back towards home in your studies. Begin by memorizing the capitals of the states that border your own. Then work on the largest cities, then the lakes, then the rivers. Know what national parks are open to the public and where to take your kids to visit historical battlefields: all by checking out the United States Map. With this study routine down pat, you can progressively increase your range of knowledge and become a walking map yourself.
